"Were the only colored people here" was written by Gwendolyn brooks, this sort story was about a couple name Paul and Maude who were African american. They here going out one night, but decided to go some where different because they were tired of going to the same old places, that they usually go too. you could tell that in the united states at this time segregation was still present, even though it was seemed to be abolished. even though the couple both had a good time they realized that they were the only colored people there. The though of even talking to these white people left there mine and the fear of being seen as intruder captured there thoughts. my reactions to this story was normal, i wasn't really surprised because these situations still exist today.
